Prior to creating dotFIT, Spruce owned the prestigious National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and was chairman of the board there. Over a period of 15 years, Spruce and his team grew NASM to be the global leader in providing evidence-based certifications, fitness solutions, and advanced credentials to health, sports performance and fitness professionals. Both dotFIT and NASM are premier resources for most amateur and professional sports organizations.
Spruce began his career in nutrition when he created Nutritionalysis and then went on to create Apex Fitness, a research and development company that eventually became part of 24 Hour Fitness USA, Inc. Spruce also created the revolutionary bodybugg® calorie management system, which in 2005 received the "Best of What's New in Personal Health" award from Popular Science. The exerspy Activity & Calorie Tracking System created by Spruce and the dotFIT team is the next generation in fitness intelligence technology.
