As an advanced practice nurse with specialization in adult mental health, I am a resource within the Department of Nursing who provides expert consultation and coaching around quality care and management for patients with psychological care needs. I also provide formal education to staff. My primary focus is geared toward evidence based care and management of patients at risk for self harm, alcohol withdrawal, and delirium. Particular interest is in assisting nurses at the bedside with skills to promote early recognition, assessment, prevention, and intervention to manage patients with a variety of psychological care needs like: delirium in the hospitalized elderly, dementia, depression, risk for suicide, psychosis, brain injury, and personality disorders.
