Bio

Kathy LeMieux is a member of Sigma Theta Tau, International Nursing Honor Society and has a master's degree in nursing with a specialty certificate in nursing education and neonatal intensive care. She is currently a Senior Nurse Educator in Washington, D.C.  She has nearly 30 years experience in nursing and was awarded the Los Angeles County Woman of Achievement award. She was featured on CNN and the Los Angeles Times for innovative practice.  Kathy's specialty is women's health, labor and delivery and NICU. As a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE), she performed over 400 sexual assault exams with the LAPD and is an expert witness in domestic violence, rape, sexual assault, child abuse, and wound healing.  She has worked in a variety of settings from tribal community health to Labor and Delivery. Kathy has a passion for women's issues and empowerment of nurses as women in the workforce.  She has experience developing and implementing clinical programs for the public and practitioners in childbirth education, lactation, sibling and father classes, women's health procedures, and relationship-building techniques including horizontal violence.  She has spent more than half of her career in management, leadership, and education.

    Be an example. Do you exercise, eat right, live a healthy life-style? Leave fresh fruit like apples on your table in a basket. Have string cheese or cut up celery in your fridge for a quick a splash of peanut butter or treats like 'ants on a bridge' (raisins, peanut butter, celery).
