Bio

Thank you for visiting my ShareCare page.

I have been a fitness professional for close to 20 years and a virtual fitness coach for over 10 years.  I am a certified NASM trainer with advanced specializations in corrective exercise, performance enhancement and weight management.

I have worked with clients in a gym setting since becoming a professional at the age of 18.  In my mid 20's I began managing health clubs, fitness professionals and doing something I call training trainers!  A little over 10 years ago I started working as a virtual fitness coach for a supplement company helping clients via fax, email and phone set up fitness programs.  5 years ago my wife and I launched our own virtual fitness company (Forster Fitness) in which we coached people via our website and in person.

I started competing as a bodybuilder by the age of 17 and by the age of 23 I won the state title in my weight class in Ohio.  18 months later I placed 6th at the 2000 NPC Nationals as a heavyweight.  One year later in preparation for the Nationals I had a major pec tear and never was same.

About 6 years ago I made a decision to change my fitness career and became NASM certified.  As they say the rest is history and hold many advanced NASM certifications and am responsible for successfully training close to 100 individuals who wanted to become a fitness professionals.  All of these professionals are NASM certified.

My wife is a wonderful woman who I am madly in love with.  We have 3 children, Aenea (8), Karis (4) & Rocky (2).  We live in Northern Kentucky and live a life that we love.  My wife and I also have a fitness ministry TEAM NWA that we are extremely passionate about.

I have worked and successfully virtually coached hundreds of people and I hope I get the opportunity to help you.

Will higher repetitions with shorter rest intervals make me “cut”?

NASM nailed it but I want to offer an addition to the answer.  Your basic metabolic rate or resting metabolic rate is largely dependent on the amount of muscle that you carry.  If you have more muscle it takes more calories to maintain the muscle and relatively your body will burn a greater amount

Are small, frequent meals good for teens?  Are they good for anyone?  The quick answer is YES!

Look at a typical teenager, their diets are generally horrible so small, frequent meals will greatly improve what they are doing but going from horrible eating to great eating can be too much for tee

What are some tips for busy teens looking to remain active?

I am going to answer this as I answer anything for people under the age of 18, it really falls on the parents shoulders.

Teens are old enough to make decisions but many times the decisions are best directed by the direction of a parent, family member or mentor.  Let me know explain:

If a teen has no direction

Can I exercise right after having my meals?

I agree with NASM, it completely all depends but for the most part having a meal directly before working out is just fine.  However, it all depends on the individual.......

The only time that I would say eating a large meal is bad is if the food you consume will cause your stomach to be upset during e

What are the different schools of thought on carbohydrate loading?

As a fitness professional I have tested both methods and the first method generally only works best for bodybuilders.  For athletes the second method is far superior.  Too much depletion causes a decrease in performance which can be detremental physically and mentally for the athlete.

    Also many

How many calories do I need to burn to lose weight?

Yes you need to burn 3500 calories to lose a pound of fat or be in a 500 calorie deficit but the key is to figure out as a baseline how many calories you are burning on a daily basis.  If you know how many calories you burn then you can easily adjust calories consumed to be 500 calories below what you burn to lose

I feel too relaxed after stretching to workout. Any suggestions?

Stretching does not always have to come directly before exercise.  The most important factor in flexibility (stretching / foam rolling) is to be consistent.  If you are consistent day after day you will see remarkable improvements in range of motion and decreased risk of injury, however right before e

What sort of weight lifting exercises help increase my strength?

This is a loaded question and the answer will be two things that I address in almost all my answers; 1) It Depends - 2) Consult a Qualified NASM Trainer

In general terms the exercises that increase strength the most are the one that incorporate the greatest percentage of muscles during a movement.  So

Why are healthy whole foods more expensive than processed foods?

I guess most people think whole foods are more expensive than processed foods but lets look a bit deeper into this.

We know that nutrient density is better for you than caloric density.  I also think it can be agreed that whole foods are going to be more nutrient dense than processed foods.  Finally

Amy, thank you for your kind words and your insight! I wish you the best of luck as well.

Hi Jeremiah...I enjoyed reading your bio. Quite impressive. I, too, believe that "do" is better than "will." Try is another of those words. Of course, it's great to try something, but how much more powerful is "I am taking control of my health and fitness," than "I will try to take control of my health and fitness?" Big difference! Have a great day. Good luck with your ministry.

Hi, J! I don't have the foam rollers, but will check out the ex. on the program. Thanks! K.

Hey Kathy, there is. When you create your exercise program you can select fitness for your regular program or corrective exercise for improving particular areas. Make sure to click on foam roller for equipment and it will automatically add foam rolling exercises and descriptions.
