Registered Dietitians, available at each Intermountain Healthcare hospital in Utah and Burley, Idaho, are the best source of nutrition information.
We provide individual counseling (Medical Nutrition Therapy or MNT) with a registered dietitian for all nutrition-related conditions including:
- Cancer - Celiac Disease (gluten free diet) - Diabetes - Eating Disorders - Food Allergies - Gastrointestinal Disorders - Heart Disease - High Blood Pressure - High Cholesterol and Lipids - Sports Nutrition - Weight Management
A referral from a doctor is not required to see a Registered Dietitian (RD), but having a referral may increase chances of getting insurance reimbursement. The dietitian will communicate with your MD if you have a referral.
Dietitians are trained to examine your eating habits, including where, when and what you eat. They then individualize the meal plan and nutrition counseling to help you be successful in making difficult lifestyle changes.
