Bio

Dr. Ileen Craven, DNP, MSN, RN is a Clinical Nurse Specialist for the inpatient diabetes team at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville, North Carolina. Her nursing career includes working with patients from medical and psychiatric backgrounds. She has worked as a nursing instructor for undergraduate nursing students, staff nurse, in nursing management, in home care, and long-term care. In May, 2011 she has received her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from Chatham University. Her evidence-based practice project is based on Jean Watson’s Theory of Human Caring. This project educated senior-level nursing students on the importance of displaying caring with every patient encounter which will lead to increased patient outcomes and heightened patient/nursing satisfaction.
