Bio

The International Bipolar Foundation (IBPF), a non-profit organization, was founded in June 2007 in San Diego, California by four parents with children affected by bipolar disorder. Well aware of the trauma that bipolar disorder causes for patients and their families, these parents felt compelled to do something constructive to help. The mission of IBPF is three fold: eliminate Bipolar Disorder through the advancement of research; to promote and enhance care and support services; and erase associated stigma through public education.

We are made up of an Executive Board, a Scientific Advisory Board, Honorary Board and Consumer Advisory Board. Reporting to the Executive Board are 5 committees who address the pieces of our mission.
