Ethlyn Gibson

Bio

Ethlyn is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS), adult health and works for the Department of Defense at Fort Belvoir Army Hospital caring for active duty soldiers, their family members and retirees from the Armed Services since June, 2011. She is also responsible for the education of young nursing officers as they begin their clinical career. She serves  as the advanced practice nurse serving in the role of clinical expert, educator, consultant and researcher for patients and families of those serving on active duty and those who have retired. Prior to her move to the Department of Defense, she served worked for Sentara Health System in Hampton, VA for three years in a variety of roles to include: director for patient care services with responsibility for the emergency department, critical care and the bed flow office (2010-2011), interim/VP nurse executive (2009-2010) and director for education and diabetes services at Sentara Health System’s campuses located in Hampton, VA and Williamsburg, VA (2008-2009). In 2008 she moved from Tacoma, WA where she was the nursing program director for Pierce College’s associate degree RN program. Ethlyn previously worked for five years in a dual role as the manager, community outreach and on call clinical nurse specialist (CNS) for the Multiple Sclerosis Center at MultiCare Health System in Tacoma, Washington from 2002-2007.
