Bio
Dr Brink was the Joslin Clinic's first pediatrician and organized its youth services from 1977-1984 when he established his own private practice, NEDEC, first in Chestnut Hill and subsequently in Waltham Massachusetts. He and his staff provide consultative care for pediatric, adolescent and young adult diabetes and endocrine problems including growth disorders, thyroid and adrenal dysfunction, lipid and calcium as well as bone mineral abnormalities, disorders of early and late puberty and associated endocrine problems related to Down Syndrome, Noonan's Syndrome, Turner's Syndrome and Prader Willi syndrome.
He has served on the National Board of Directors of the American Diabetes Association as well as been the ADA's National Chair for the Council on Diabetes and Youth. He was a co-investigator of the NIH-sponsored DCCT for ten years and also served on the American Academy of Pediatrics Endocrine Executive Committee and on the International Diabetes Federation’s Youth Section Consultative Section as well as Youth Task Force.
In addition to the AAP, ADA, ISPAD and IDF, he is a professional member of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologist (AACE), the Lawson Wilkins Pediatric Endocrine Society (LWPES) and the Endocrine Society and is ISPAD representative on the Steering Committee of GPED, Global Pediatric Endocrine and Diabetes consortium.
Dr Brink has been awarded a Doctor Honoris Causa from the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Timisoara, Romania as well as the ADA’s Outstanding Contribution to Diabetes in Youth award and the JDF’s Anne Woolf award and is recognized as one of the Best Doctors in America as well as numerous Who’s Who publications and the Guide to America’s Top Pediatricians.
