Bio

Dr. Sunder is a board certified and fellowship trained surgeon specializing in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Sunder realized at a young age that she had a special talent for art, getting accepted into a program for gifted young artists. However, her true passion for medicine brought her to the Johns Hopkins University, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa, with a double major. She received her medical training at Cornell Medical College. Her career then took her to Stanford University for an internship in General Surgery, followed by residency in Otolaryngology-Head & Neck Surgery. During her final year, she served as Chief Resident, teaching medical students and training other residents. Dr. Sunder was accepted to a prestigious fellowship accredited by the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, training under internationally renowned facial plastic surgeon and p! ast president of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.

Dr. Sarmela Sunder concentrated her training specifically on the face and neck, believing that a surgeon should properly focus on one field in order to be truly exceptional. Her extensive training combined with her innate sense for aesthetics gives her a distinctive approach for management of her patients. Combining this with the fact that Dr. Sunder represents a woman’s perspective, allows her to offer her patients a unique and exclusive experience in her Beverly Hills and Encino offices.

Last week, one of my patients from Calabasas brought in her 16 year old daughter for a rhinoplasty consultation because of a septal deviation and a prominent hump on her nose. One of her first questions was whether she was “too young” to have a rhinoplasty. This is a great question that I often get

It is common to fill the folds with a dermal filler such as Restylane, Juvederm, Perlane or Radiesse. However, depending on the

Is makeup bad for skin health?

I think the key here is to keep everything in moderation. While many of us enjoy wearing make-up, it is important to allow your skin and pores to “breathe.” It is important to completely remove all make-up at night before going to bed. In the past much of our make-up was very drying or caused con

Many women, and men, associate full lips on a woman with youth and femininity. That is why it is no surprise that so many women come into the practice asking for lip augmentation. Most patients are perfectly content with a temporary option, such as that provided with fillers. I prefer to use Restylane or Juvederm to plump up

    What is a mini-facelift?
What is involved in a mini-lift varies depending on the surgeon. However, in general, it is a less involved version of that particular surgeon's traditional facelift. It may involve a shorter scar and usually involves less dissection. The advantage of a mini-lift is that it generally requires a shorter...  Full Post
