Robert L. Vogelzang, M.D., FSIR, is engaged in the full-time practice of vascular and interventional radiology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital , where he has served as chief of vascular and interventional radiology since 1985. Dr. Vogelzang has trained more than 100 fellows in interventional radiology.
Dr. Vogelzang has been actively involved in research and education during his entire career; he has authored more than 100 scientific papers and more than 50 book chapters on subjects related to interventional radiology. His major areas of academic interest have been in vascular recanalization techniques and embolotherapy of neoplasms and vascular malformations. His current research activities have been in treatment of vascular malformations, uterine fibroid embolization and temporary IVC filters.
A past president of the Society of Interventional Radiology, Dr. Vogelzang has served in numerous capacities at the SIR and his emphasis has been on regulatory and payment issues. He has also served as an alternate delegate to the American Medical Association House of Delegates and has been a specialty adviser to the AMA Relative Value Update Committee (RUC) since 1992.
Dr. Vogelzang completed a fellowship in interventional radiology and cross-sectional imaging, a residency in diagnostic radiology and internship at Northwestern University Medical School in Chicago. He received his medical degree from Chicago Medical School and his bachelor's degree from Trinity Christian College.
