Jeffrey Heier

Bio

Dr. Jeffrey Heier specializes in diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous, as well as in the evaluation of innovative treatments for macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and venous occlusive disease. He is currently a vitreoretinal specialist at Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, co-director of the Vitreoretinal Fellowship at OCB/Tufts Medical School, a clinical instructor in ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School, and president of the Center for Eye Research and Education, all in Boston. Dr. Heier received his medical degree from Boston University School of Medicine and subsequently completed a transitional internship, ophthalmic residency, and vitreoretinal fellowship at Fitzsimons Army Medical Center in Colorado. In between his internship and residency, Dr. Heier served as a physician in a combat support hospital in the Persian Gulf War, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and an Army Commendation Medal.
