See www.meredithdental.com for more on my background. I limited my practice to specialty periodontics and implant placement for 10 years. I then returned to general practice and now do everthing dental except pedodontics. MAGD award in 2009 in recognition of extensive dental continuing education. I now have over 2000 hours of CE (it's a hobby - I do more than 100 hours per year). I occasionally do teaching presentations (mostly perio-prosthetics and implants) but as I live in a rural area far from any schools I have not been teaching in an official capacity since I taught perio at NYU in 1990. I built a large new free-standing dental clinic two years ago, and it is a very happy and busy place.

    What causes tooth decay?

    Protect the pulp (or "nerve") inside your tooth from anything that might bother it and you will never need a root canal (RCT). Easier said than done!
