David Grossman

Bio

Dr David A Grossman received his Bachelor's degree from Lehigh University, and his dental degree from New York University College of Dentistry. He is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and a member of the American Academy of Forensic Sciences and the American Society of Forensic Odontology.

Dr. Grossman has been in private practice in Baldwin, NY since 1987. He served as an Attending at Nassau University Medical Center from 1991-2010, and he has been involved in forensic odontology since 1996. As a member of the federal disaster team DMORT, he assisted in the identification of victims of the 9/11 terrorist attacks in New York City and the victims of Hurricane Katrina in Gulfport, MS.

In 2007, Dr. Grossman graduated from the FBI's Citizen Academy program in New York City, where he studied the procedures and training of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Dr. Grossman lives with his wife and children in New York on Long Island. His hobbies include sports, travel, scuba diving and wine collecting.

    How is tooth sensitivity diagnosed?

    Tooth sensitivity is often first diagnosed by the patient. Most often, he/she will be aware of sensitivity to cold, or to the touch of a fingernail or toothbrush. The dentist then performs an examination, take x-rays, and determine the source of the problem and the best means of treatment.

    Does teeth whitening solution remove tooth enamel?
    Teeth whitening materials SHOULD not remove enamel. Prescription whitening materials- administered by dentists and supervised by dentists- will not remove enamel. The same may not hold true for over-the-counter products, as anyone can put acid or anything else in a jar and sell it as a tooth whitener.  Full Post
