He writes The Healing Crowd for Psychology Today as their expert on Group Therapy, and offers advanced training for therapists seeking certification in group psychotherapy and psychodrama. Dr. Tomasulo is co-author of Healing Trauma: The Power of Group Treatment for People with Intellectual Disabilities, the American Psychological Association’s first book on psychotherapy for people with intellectual disabilities. He was the first psychologist to be honored as Healthcare Provider of the Year by the ARC of New Jersey.
He has been in private practice in New Jersey for more than 25 years working with individuals, couples and groups.
In addition Dr. Tomasulo writes the popular daily column, Ask the Therapist, for PsychCentral.com, as well at Proof Positive blog on practical applications of positive psychology.
Confessions of a Former Child: A Therapist’s Memoir, is his latest book by Graywolf. It chronicles his particularly challenging experiences as a parent, and his life as a psychologist. Royalty proceeds from this book are donated to various agencies working with the intellectually disabled and the chronically mentally ill. His play Sticks, Stones and the R word, recently won the International play competition for the RETHINK Theater Challenge. It premiered October 9th and 10th , 2010 in Auckland, New Zealand.
He is currently a candidate for a Masters of Applied Positive Psychology at the University of Pennsylvania.
