Do women get canker sores more often than men?

Dr. De Vizio of Colgate answered:Canker sores (aphthous ulcers) occur twice as often in women than in men. They may develop anywhere in the mouth. They commonly develop on the inside of the cheeks, lips, and sometimes back in the throat or on the tongue. No one knows exactly why canker sores are more common in women, but it is thought that hormonal and immune system changes might be a factor.

Joan Haizlip answered:Canker sores (aphthous ulcers) can develop in anyone, but they are more common in women. The female sex hormones appear to play a part in causing canker sores.
