While using teeth whitening strips you may feel an extra sensitivity in your teeth and gums, similar to the sensation of eating cold ice cream. Some people also experience irritation while using the strips. Any irritation and sensitivity usually subsides after you stop using the strips. Using a toothpaste for sensitive teeth may also help ease any tooth sensitivity.

Usually teeth whitening strips have a very low percentage of peroxide (bleaching agent). Lowering the percentage of peroxide will usually produce less sensitivity of the teeth, however, some people may experience tooth sensitivity even when using whitening strips. If someone does experience sensitivity after using whitening strips there are special toothpastes and gels that one can use.
