    Multiple Sclerosis Foundation answered:
Most people with multiple sclerosis (MS) do not become paralyzed or severely disabled. Two-thirds of those with MS will maintain the ability to walk 20 years after developing the disease, though some may need an aid, such as a cane or crutches. Due to fatigue, weakness, or balance problems, others may use a scooter or wheelchair.
