Will amnesia go away?

Many forms of amnesia, like transient global amnesia, are temporary and resolve within a relatively short period of time. Dissociative amnesia, which is the result of an emotional trauma, may be more difficult to handle because filling in the memory gaps may take years of therapy. Wernicke-Korsakoff syndrome, on the other hand, can be treated with fluids and thiamin injections. Amnestic syndrome, which is neurological in nature, will not go away, but for many it can be managed on a daily basis. For others, amnestic syndrome is so severe that daily supervisory care is recommended.
