Amy Colgan-Niemeyer answered:Exercise is beneficial for everyone, including older people. Flexibility training, muscle strengthening, cardio, and balance training can all help older folks reduce the chances of chronic health problems and manage current health issues. Jonathan Penney of National Academy of Sports Medicine answered:The answer is simple…why not? I have been fortunate to work with a client as who was a young 87 years old. This one particular individual was a true blessing to be around. She came in energized and put in 110%, nothing could slow her down. She was always alert and always willing to try any exercise I offered and I truly mean any exercise.
What is the meaning of that story? No matter you age, exercise is important. It will help keep you young and help keep you moving. As we age our balance decreases, our bone density decreased, and these are two very important aspects of life that can be built with exercise. Conclusion, get out and exercise!
