The hepatitis B virus causes inflammation of the liver and can trigger other health issues. Chronic infection can lead to liver damage (cirrhosis), chronic hepatitis, liver cancer or even death. The hepatitis B vaccine (recombinant) will protect or immunize you against infection from the hepatitis B virus. This vaccination is approved for all ages and should be given to anyone who has an increased risk of exposure.
