Why might juice made from apples from other countries contain arsenic?

    The US Geological Survey says China is the world’s largest producer of arsenic, a heavy metal and known carcinogen. We outlawed arsenic in pesticides in the US, but we don’t know what happens in other countries’ apple orchards. Those apples can be sprayed with pesticides that contain inorganic arsenic. Two-thirds of the apple juice that Americans consume – more than 400 million gallons annually – come from juice concentrate shipped from China.
