Why is erysipelas sometimes called Swine Disease?

When people get erysipelas, it has nothing to do with pigs. The reason for the name is not because a lot of people get erysipelas from pigs, and you cannot get erysipelas from eating pork or other pig products. The reason some people might call the condition Swine Disease is because pigs are also capable of getting erysipelas. The strain of erysipelas that affects pigs is called Swine Erysipelas.
