FDA controlled substances (schedule II, III, IV and V) are considered a risk rating of 4 in risk rating system due to the potential of abuse of these medications. Clonazepam is classified as FDA schedule IV and thus it has an iGuard risk rating 4. Controlled substances such as Clonazepam are widely used without the development of abuse or addiction. However, iGuard believes that the potential for abuse of controlled substances warrants a higher risk rating for these medications so that patients can develop a risk management plan with their doctor.
