    Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:
When you're leaving the hospital after a stay of any length, always ask who you should call if you have any questions or problems. Get a specific person and their phone number. Importantly, don't just assume you'll call your primary care doctor or your in-hospital doctor; there may be a better person or a faster person to reach.

Ask your surgeon and your primary care doctor who you should contact with any follow-up issues or problems involving medication, pain, bleeding, questions with take-home equipment such as catheters, and the like. Everyone forgets to ask this, and it can be one of the most important points of information you get.
