    Stacy Wiegman answered:

Adults, adolescents and children at least six years of age who have narrowing of the airways caused by asthma or other lung diseases can use Xopenex. Xopenex (also known as levalbuterol) can prevent or stop the breathing problems, wheezing and feelings of tightness in the chest from certain lung diseases. Xopenex works by relaxing the airways to the lungs and opening them to make breathing easier.
