If you have not resolved your high cholesterol through a combination of diet, exercise, and weight loss, Tricor (fenofibrate) may be prescribed for you. Avoiding alcohol can also help. Obesity, alcohol, diabetes, and some thyroid conditions, as well as a number of drugs can increase triglyceride levels. The goal of treatment is to decrease your bad cholesterol and triglyceride levels. You should not consider Tricor a long-term remedy. When you have your cholesterol and triglyceride levels under control, your doctor may recommend decreasing or stopping your dosage.
