Procrit (Epoetin Alpha) may be prescribed for anemia if you have been on chemotherapy for at least two months. If you have chronic kidney failure, whether you are on dialysis or not, you can take Procrit. Procrit may be given if you are taking a drug called zidovudine (AZT) for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) infection, which is causing you to be anemic.
