Stacy Wiegman answered:Anyone allergic to nitroglycerin should not take this medication. If you are allergic to the adhesive used in the patch, you need to use a different form of nitroglycerin. If you have just had a heart attack, you should not take nitroglycerin by mouth, under your tongue, or through a skin patch. If you are extremely anemic, nitroglycerin is not for you. People with recent head injuries or fluid pressure on their brain are advised not to use nitroglycerin. You should not take nitroglycerin in the capsule form if you have closed-angle glaucoma. If you are using Viagra (sildenafil citrate) or another medication for erectile dysfunction, talk to your doctor before taking nitroglycerin. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, talk with your doctor before taking nitroglycerin.
