Who can view my health information?
-
UnitedHealthcare answered:The Privacy Rule sets rules and limits on who can look at and receive your health information as long as this protection does not interfere with your health care. So, your information can be used and shared for your treatment and care coordination and to pay doctors and hospitals for your health care. It may also be shared with your family, relatives, friends, or others who you identify as being involved with your health care or your health care bills. If you do not wish for a particular person associated with your care or payment of care to view your health information, you must submit an objection. Your health information also may be shared to protect the public's health, such as by reporting when the flu is spreading in your area or to file a police report, such as reporting gunshot wounds.
