    The more time fish spend living in a mercury-laden environment or eating other fish containing mercury, the higher the contamination levels will be. Here's the list of fish to avoid:
    • King mackerel: 0.73 parts per million mercury concentration
    • Shark: 0.99 parts per million mercury concentration
    • Swordfish: 0.98 parts per million mercury concentration
    • Tilefish (Gulf of Mexico): 1.45 parts per million mercury concentration

    Avoid eating swordfish, mackerel, tilefish, and shark. They contain the highest mercury levels. Be aware of the place where it was caught and what type of fish it is. Never accept recreational fish from questionable waters, and never eat high-mercury content fish. It is not worth the risk.
