Toby Smithson of Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics answered:I like to avoid the phrase "diabetic recipes" because it suggests we must eat in a different way than "normal" people. Everyone, and especially those of us with diabetes, should eat "heart healthy"...reduce saturated fats, whole grains, lots of vegetables and fruits, easy on the sodium, etc. With diabetes I use the phrase "diabetes-friendly" with recipes that are both heart healthy and reasonable about carbohydrates per serving. You can find many recipes that meet this definition I have prepared on video on my website's EveryDay Diet page at this link....enjoy good food in reasonable portions!
