    Lipitor is used as a supplementary medication to reduce the risk of disease. It doesn't precisely treat symptoms, but it helps prevent developing symptoms of serious conditions in the future. If the medication succeeds in bringing down your cholesterol and triglycerides, you may have to continue taking it in order to maintain healthy levels.
