First, listen to your body. If you do not feel well (for example, you have a cold or the flu), do not exercise for a day or two until you feel better.

Second, do not try to avoid exercise if you have:
    • chest discomfort, pressure, squeezing, fullness, or pain (discomfort lasts for more than a few minutes or goes away and comes back)
    • discomfort in one or both arms, the back, neck, jaw, or stomach
    • shortness of breath
    • nausea and vomiting
    • breaking out in a cold sweat
    • lightheadedness
