    Dr. Stuart Linder answered:
Serious post-operative complications that require immediate attention include: bleeding, infection, and loss of vision from blepharoplasty. An expanding hematoma is associated with increased pain, swelling, and blood collection under the skin flap. This should be immediately decompressed, hemostasis accomplished, and evacuated. Any evidence of infection should be addressed immediately. Signs include redness, fever, swelling, and pain.
