Kids should start using deodorant or an antiperspirant if they become concerned about their body odor as they enter puberty. Deodorant masks the smell of sweat; antiperspirant actually stops perspiration.

Girls can start puberty around 8 to 13, and boys generally begin puberty between 9 and 14. This is a good time to go over some hygiene basics, including showering daily and wearing clean clothes every day.

If your child is concerned about excessive perspiration, he should talk to his doctor.
