Women with tubular breast deformities usually require breast augmentation surgery with release of the lower portion of the breast tissue in order to recreate a normal shape and roundness to the bottom of their breasts. These patients usually will require augmentation alone, however, if they also have loose, saggy skin they may require a breast lift at the same time to achieve the desired result.

Correcting a tubular breast deformity can be very difficult. In the past, implants were usually placed above the muscle in order to recreate a more round appearance of the breast, but at this stage in my practice I prefer to place the implants, most of the time at least, half under the muscle and half over and completely release the lower portion of the breast to create a beautiful, rounder, more natural appearing shape while reducing the visibility of the implant bag edge along the inner aspect of the chest area.
