    In preparation for your charity walking event start by walking several days a week several weeks before the charity If youre over 40 or have a recent history of heart disease diabetes or orthopedic problems consult a doctor before starting your program If its been a while since you walked regularly start with 1015 minutes and work your way up to approximately 7 of the distance you need to walk on the day of the charity event For example if your charity event is a 10k walks or 62 miles you should work up to approximately 5 miles the week leading up to your event On the day of the event you should be able to cover the other 25 with no issues
