Because the hormones produced by the gonads affect so many parts of the body, the symptoms can be wide-ranging. The symptoms also depend on the age at which primary hypogonadism first appears. If the disorder begins before puberty, then many secondary sexual characteristics - body hair and muscle mass in men, breasts and menstruation in women - will not develop. Even in adults, the disorder can cause drastic changes to the body as well as sexual dysfunction. Emotional and psychological symptoms such as fatigue and difficulty concentrating can also develop.
