What are the symptoms of onycholysis?
-
Onycholysis usually affects several nails at a time. The nail begins to slowly detach starting at the end of the nail tip and peeling backward. Because of infection, the nail may turn different colors and the border between the white and pink sections of your nail may be irregular. The skin beneath the nail will begin to thicken causing further detachment. Usually this process is relatively painless unless the infection causes subsequent irritation.
