    Dr. Mehmet Oz answered:
Dry hair is hair that is lacking enough oil. It may appear lackluster because it doesn't reflect light well. If exposure to sun and salt or chlorinated water has dried your hair, you may also notice some bleaching of your hair color. Dry hair may also look frizzy or flyaway, and may have split ends.  It may also be prone to breakage during styling, combing or other grooming activities. Consult your doctor if you have dry hair. He or she will be able to determine if it is naturally dry or if there is an underlying medical problem.
