There is currently no medical test that can confirm a diagnosis of autism. A diagnosis of autism is based on observed behavior, developmental history, and autism specific instruments when needed (ADOS, ADI). The ADOS and ADI-R can be used in conjunction with clinical judgment to confirm a diagnosis of autism.
