American Dental Association answered:If you are more prone to cavities, you should talk to your dentist about the possible why this is the case. This could be due to not properly brushing and flossing, and/or not eating a well-balanced diet.
If you experience this problem it's possible you may need more frequent visits to the dentist for more screenings and cleanings to help prevent this problem. You should also be extra diligent in brushing twice daily with a fluoride toothpaste and flossing. Be sure to eat a well-balanced diet that is low in sugar to keep sugar from sticking to teeth.

Dr. Roya Arbab answered:Proper hygiene is your best defense against cavities; correct brushing, flossing and additional aids like soft picks and proxy brushes would help remove plaque from your teeth, which contains cavity causing bacterial.
In addition to hygiene fluoride in your tooth paste and or mouth rinses would help.
Xylitol gum and lollypops would help.
The cavity causing bacteria live in an acidic environment and cannot survive in an alkaline one, rinsing with CariFree active phase mouth rinse helps change your mouth's PH so the cavity causing bacteria would not survive.

Dr. William Litaker answered:There are several things that can help individuals that are prone to getting cavities. First, are regular visits to the dentist. Your dentist can identify weak areas in the enamel of your teeth that could turn into cavities. Fluorides cans be prescribed to strengthen these areas. Second, good oral hygiene is important to remove the plaque from the teeth as plaque causes cavities. Good oral hygiene consists of brushing and flossing your teeth daily and preferably after every meal. Third, diets high in sugar content can contribute to cavities. Limit sugars in foods and drinks. See your dentist regularly. (I know, sounds like a commercial.)
Clean your teeth every day with brushing and flossing.
Use a flouride rinse.
