What are the symptoms of a tension headache?

Tension headaches feel like a dull pain in the forehead or back of the head, or both, with tightness or pressure in or around the head. The pain may extend over the top of your head to the front near your eyebrows. Some women describe tension headaches as feeling “like you’re wearing a hat that’s several sizes too small, and it keeps getting smaller, squeezing your head like a vice.” You may also have soreness in your shoulders or in the back of your neck. Your jaws may also hurt if there is tightness of the muscles in these areas.When this type of headache becomes very frequent or constant, there may also be a great deal of stress present along with depression or other problems. The sufferer may have difficulty sleeping at night, have eating problems, and suffer fatigue.
