The symptoms of occasional atrial fibrillation can be mild or severe. You could feel an abnormal rhythm for a few minutes, hours, or days, but the heart rhythm returns to a normal sinus rhythm on its own. So, you may not be aware that you have a diagnosable condition. You may just think you are under stress or having heart palpitations. Some people with occasional atrial fibrillation have difficulty taking deep breaths. Atrial fibrillation is a potentially serious condition that can result in heart failure and stroke if not treated properly.
