Common side effects of Arimidex include: hot flashes; weakness; drowsiness; nausea; dizziness; vomiting; loss of appetite; constipation or diarrhea; cough; sore throat; joint, bone, back, pelvic pain or stiffness; sweating; mood swings; depression; anxiety; difficulty sleeping; vaginal dryness; and weight gain. It’s important to discuss even common side effects with your doctor if they become severe or are persistent. Serious side effects that may develop include: an allergic reaction (hives, itching, rashes, difficulty swallowing or breathing); tightness or pain in the chest; slow or fast heartbeat; difficult or painful urination; tenderness or numbness in the arms, legs or on one side of the body; bone fracture (often related to having osteoporosis); sudden, severe headache; jaundice; liver inflammation; shortness of breath; swelling of the glands, feet or hands; difficulty speaking; disorientation; vaginal bleeding. Because of the risk of severe allergic reaction, seek medical attention right away if any serious side effect develops.  Armidex is the brand name of the generic medication anastrozole.
