    The main thing to know about drinking tap water with fluoride is that it is safe and has been proven to be the most cost-effective way to reduce the incidence of tooth decay. If your children are getting chalky discolorations of their teeth, they may be getting too much fluoride. The EPA recommends a water concentration of no more than 0.7 ppm.
