What should I know about albuterol before taking it?
-
Stacy Wiegman answered:Albuterol is used to relieve symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It is not a cure. Even if your symptoms improve, you should continue taking albuterol. Do not abruptly discontinue use, and do not increase dosage without your doctor's supervision. Changing your dose is dangerous and can worsen your symptoms. Albuterol may interact with certain medications, including common over-the-counter cold remedies. Do not take any additional medications without first discussing them with your doctor. Albuterol may affect your blood sugar. If you have diabetes, monitor your blood sugar levels. If your levels change, your doctor may need to adjust your diabetes medication.
