The most sensible approach to weight loss is to both decrease caloric intake and increase energy expenditure through exercise and physical activity. That is the secret to weight success. Most individuals will begin to lose weight if they decrease their caloric intake below 1,500 calories/day and do aerobic exercise for 20-40 minutes three to four times per week. With weight bearing exercise and weight training you further boost your fat melting capacity.

By making healthy food choices you can easily drop up to 500 excess calories per day from your meals without going hungry and without feeling deprived. This alone will help you lose a pound per week. Be sure to add in several possibilities for increased physical activity as part of your plan. Exercise with fitness DVDs at home, attend a yoga class, go dancing...do anything that gets your heart pumping!

Allow yourself variety and flexibility so you don't get bored. Begin by making a list of all the things you are committed to doing to create your strategic weight success plan.
