    Although the postmenopausal ovaries have retired from childbearing, they still have other functions. A common misconception is that the ovaries stop making hormones in postmenopause. In fact, ovaries continue to make testosterone. Postmenopausal ovaries also continue to make estradiol; they just make it in drastically reduced amounts, and it is released slowly and steadily.
